Does it ultimately matter anyway?
Do people really care?
What happens with the 2nd, 3rd and so on generation photos that get taken from sites and used again on another site and so on.
The way I see it you are chasing your own tail and there are far more important things in life to be concerned with.

That attitude is why a lot of things aren't as good as they could be. Why should we have to lock our doors? Why should we have to be careful what we leave in our cars? We should never condone illegal and unethical behavior at any time in any place for any reason. Otherwise you are doing nothing but helping the criminals get ahead. That same apathy is why the world is in the situation it is in today !
Moni I believe you are missing my point. Sure it is poor practice if others take things that you feel belong to you, however in this case, just who is going to police the issue. Just how far will the average person go to protect a picture if it has been poached to a site, then another site poaches it and so on. Who will police it? I am not being apathetic just dealing in reality. You post something on the web then it is available to all to manipulate in ways we may not like. You could waste a whole lot of your life pursuing the unseen on the web across many continents and to what lengths and expense?
I understand Janne chasing up copyright issues as it generates an income for him, I suspect there are not a lot on this site that make money chasing those who lift their pictures. And for the majority who can afford to have lawyers chasing these sorts of things up?
If you leave nice things on display whether that be on the web or in your car there will always be those tempted to take these nice things. So the question is, how do you lock up the www. You cant! Which police do you send, whom do you make a complaint to and so on?
Seems the average person is not really bothered with images used for other purposes, to me the main people concerned are those who have some sort of commercial interest in their photographs.
Any photos I put on the web I do so with full understanding that others may wish to use them and I personally have no objection to this.
