When I'm paddling hard across a lake into a headwind or hiking up a tough trail I play the following tunes in my head:

"Not Giving Up" by Switchfoot - a real upper so-to-speak
"This Is Your Life" by Switchfoot again - title tells all
"Stand Back" by Stevie Nicks - a true classic, gets your blood moving
"Blurry" by Puddle of Mudd - another mover
"Little Wonders" by Rob Thomas - I know, I'm sentimental!

and my current fav:
"Say" by John Mayor - from the movie "Bucket List" but easy to sing and helped me hike down Skyline Trail Loop at Rainier 2 weeks ago after I'd fallen down and broken my ankle.

I like the French band "Cocoon", and they have a song called Cliffhanger, where they say over and over

I have climbed mountains,
I have lost my toes.
I don't mind.
Now i'm alone.

And every time, I think "good for you, but I would mind".

Their music is pretty good otherwise.

Howdy y'all, this looks like a relatively safe thread for my *first* post!

I'll always remember watching the alpenglow and sunset in the natural amphitheater of the Condoriri mountain range. Everyone in the camp fell silent while listening to King Crimson "The Sheltering Sky". Magic hour indeed!
