The best recent addition to my library of climbing books has been "The Stonemasters, California Rock Climbers in the Seventies."
That crew revolutionized California climbing, and they didn't need an instruction book to make it happen.

I have a copy. It's pretty cryptic. I think it's intended to be used as an adjunct to AGMA courses (reason I got it). Unless you're an AMGA member it will cost $75, which is kind of steep for what you get.

Would you consider buying a copy of the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides Technical Handbook? It's available through the Canadian Alpine Club web site for $38.20 CDN for members and $44.95 non-members. Look in the book section under reference books.
