I read “Ghosts of Everest, The Search for Mallory and Irvine," by Jochen Hemmleb, Lrry A. Johnson and Eric R. Simonson.

This book documents the expedition which found Mallory’s body high on Everest in 1999. It also gives good coverage of the basic info available about Mallory and Irvine’s climb and possible scenarios as to what happened.

It is not comprehensive but has great pictures and is a good read. Also, it includes a good set of footnotes, a detailed appendix of Mallory/Irvine expedition statistics and a list of selected references if you want to dig deeper.

Look into "An Afterclap of Fate: Mallory on Everest" by Charles Lind, one of the more unusual entries in the Mallory story.

It won the 2007 Boardman-Tasker award and was a finalist at the Banff Festival. Can be hard to find a copy, but worth seeking out. Whether you agree with the author's conclusion or not, you consider the various possibilities. Good read.

I found "The Mystery of Mallory & Irvine" a superb read.

Indeed I'm about to read it again!

I almost never read fiction, but the biographical fiction "Paths of Glory" by Jeffery Archer was a delight book. I cold not put the book down.

I now see that the 1927 biography of Mallory by David Pye has been republished. I've not read it but it has always received high marks. Tony Astill includes it in his list of top 100 British mountaineering books:

This is the only biography of Mallory written by someone who knew him personally. Might have to pick up a copy one of these days...

I just finished that book tonight. I might read some of the other suggestions in this thread.
