Just did a pretty good climb. But after I thought I got to the summit........it wasn't. "I can't fuckin do this" were my exact words to myself. Was exhausted......Made it!! My new phrase is, "I cant' fuckin' do this....I did"

One of the best threads I've ever seen. Somebody said it starts up again every two years or so. Where are the old threads?

"I was scared seconding it."
From my partner when he seconded a particularly scary route in Symonds Yat, Wales just after I led it. I was shitting myself while leading, could've decked really badly. A couple months later someone fell to death on this route.

After about 10 hours of lugging 65lb packs uphill in Jan. while breaking trail in waist deep powder my buddy says:
"F*ck mountaineering!!! I didn't sign up for this much pain".

On the Kahiltna glacier on a guided trip while resting two rope teams are side-by-side:
"Kirah, I desperately need to use the CMC" (clean mountain can).

I was climbing at Ragged Mountain in CT when we stopped on a ledge above a near-vert slab. Two guys were climbing the route next to me, and one had topped out and couldn't find a good anchor, so tied of horizontally by a cordellette to a small boulder about ten feet away. When his buddy was half way through the climb, he yelled down:

"Oh, and by the way, climb this like its a free-solo. My anchor is shit."
