I must put in though that I think his brain starts to shut me out sometimes as I go on and on about possible trip details and routes etc. But that's probably just normal married behavior!! :p Can't blame that on SP!

Today for example I spent a few hours this morning working out an expense list for a trip to the Cirque of the unclimbables. When I showed him he told me there was something wrong with me! Haha! But do you know what I hear in that response? I don't hear a no..... hmm, maybe I do have something wrong with me...

Chalk me up as another victim of Bad Bob Sihler and his invention of the word "Summitporn." :( My wife glanced over at the screen one day and saw that word in the thread headline, and she's been bandying it around gleefully ever since ...

Pretty funny! I alwasy say a perfect weekened would involve going climbing one day, then to a quilt show the next day.

"I must have been through about a million girls,
I'd love 'em then I'd leave 'em alone.
I didn't care how much they cried, no sir..
Their tears left me cold as a stone. (on SP)
But then I fooled around and fell in love,
I fooled around and fell in love ... yes I did..."

My girl friend does not mind it as long as I'm not on it when she comes over to hang out. A few uncomfortable situations have started that way believe it or not. (The good old not enough quality time speech)

She got worked up when she saw the "Hottest Chick Alive thread". I just say that's for the immature people on SP....

This is very reminiscent of your "Summit Porn" page Bob. That was you no?

My wife used to hate SP, but I spend very little time here lately.

No, it's for the "older (mature) men" on SP who haven't got ANY for awhile.

Yuk, yuk..

As much as I wish that I had, I did not invent the term. I first heard it from Dean, and Scott claims to have coined it. I just immortalized it.

My wife likes Summitpost, but she does not like the forums. She thinks most of the forum posters are nuts and that there is too much ego involved (maybe she is on to something). She has her own profile and may become active again.

I have spent too much time on the forums though and on SP, but I have cut back much in recent months for other reasons (which will be explained in my next trip report).

Anyway, my wife helps me choose which photos to add to my pages and trip reports and edits most of my submissions (especially trip reports) before I post them.

She's a real sweety and I love her very much. She is my best friend.

I have climbed some really remote mountains, have been on some fairly hard climbs and adventures and have climbed with literally hundreds of people, but my favorite climbing partners are my wife and kids. I really couldn't ask for better climbing partners than them. Before my wife and I met, she hadn't ever even been on an easy hike and now we have been on so many adventures together and will continue to do so (though our traveling days are mostly over). Being married is the best thing in the world.

No, I get even with my quilting sites....

That is pretty funny. I remember once when you said you make rugs out of climbing ropes.

Let's just say it did not help my case any that the forum thread titled "Oh, Sarah, baby!" periodically raises its silly head.

Yeah, I am on the receiving end now and then of anti-SP spousal sentiment. This weekend, for instance, I asked him to note the mileage we had travelled on a dirt road. The spousal rebuttal (in snarky tone): Why, you need this for summitpost?

He also refers to my hobby (summitting peaks in general) as 'Your stupid rocks.'

Heheheh, it's all good. I can pick on his Crimson Tide or TN Titans or USAF Falcons, too. All in the name of love.

This sport, independent of SP, can indeed be rough on some relationships. SP, at times, makes an easy target for the spouse.

PS - wasting time at airport bar waiting for delayed flight. God bless the Blackberry! (See earlier post re: SP on smartphones.)

Aaaaaa..

I was under the impression that rocks ARE STUPID, because they are inanimate objects.

Then again, stupid IS what stupid does.
