What are your favorite climbing films every climber should see?

Here are a few to get us started:

- True Grit
- Dosage IV
- First Ascent

The John Wayne version, or the remake that's coming out in a few weeks?

If anyone caught the Reel Rock Film Tour, I hope you learned as much as I did from the "Toprope Warriors" (I think that's what it was called) short film. The idea of an assisted dyno never occurred to me.

To be somewhat helpful, I thought "The Sharp End" was pretty good. The production value of climbing films keeps getting better and better.

The German film Nordwand which recounts the Toni Kurtz/Andi Hinterstrosser (sp?) epic on the NF Eiger is very, very good. Some of the best climbing scences I have seen in a movie.

Definitely, can't you just feel the desperation as they try to reverse the traverse without a fixed line? (shudder)

For a mass produced move: Touching the Void.

For sheer motivation, although it's not climbing related: Running the Sahara.

I really like Climbing movies. Their harder to come by apposed to bouldering movies which are a dime a dozen given their easier ability to film. And bouldering movies get a little boring for me...

The Sharp End
First Ascent

Those are both good. I would have to recheck the ones I have seen, after a while their all get blended together...

Check out my gear reviews, I have seen a few and you can get an idea on what I think of them.

LOL. add "Clothing for Rainier".

Not a big fan of climbing films - I'd rather go climb. You also always wonder about the logistics and what part was staged or not. Ski films on other hand are always fun to watch.
