Positive comments BUT no votes

I was looking at the photos with highest "scores" based on the votes and was surprised at the amount of people who left positive, complimentary comments but did not vote/score for the photo. Any ideas why?

My guess is, not everyone likes the voting system. So they choose not to vote.

Many people just prefer not to vote. I've had lots of positive comments on submissions of mine but with no accompanying votes. There have also been a few positive comments with votes of 4 and 5. :?

Personally, I think people should vote more. The system has some real flaws, but when I vote a 10, it's my way of acknowledging good work by a member and encouraging more. Even though power points and vote weights and page scores mean nothing outside this site, people do like receiving encouragement for their efforts.

I have noticed that a specific "cross-section" of members, mostly hardcore climbers, DO NOT give a ratass about the voting system here on SP.

Hey, that's fine with me. Maybe they don't need to be encouraged by an "electronic bleep" on their
images and pages.

ME? I appreciate all comments, but just don't BE calling me LATE FOR DINNER.

I think we should be careful about what appears to be a "positive" comment. Sometimes the comment is in response to other positive comments, so they pick up the same title. If we read the comment, we may see that it's not very positive after all.

My REI dividend last year was HUGE, and so was my IRS refund, thanks to all the votes on my SummitPost photos. Thanks, everyone!
