Given 3 wishes that you could climb ANY mountain without risk of death, but the usual possibilities of frostbite etc. that happen on the highest peaks. Which 3 peaks would you choose to climb?
My 3:
K2
Nanda Devi
El Capitan

Since it's hard to boil it down to just three, here are three of my either/ors:

Cerro Torre/Fitzroy
Changabang/Bhagiraithi III
Eiger (N. Face)

I have to admit that K2 is pretty tempting. I have to admit that Astroman is almost as high on my list. Never got around to it when I was younger and in shape. El Cap?...been there, done that. 8)

K2 - To me the epitome of Himalayan climbing
Eiger North Face - ditto for alpine climbing
Cerro Torre - ditto for sheer badassness

As soon as I hit 'submit' I remembered that the Trango Tower (Nameless or Great) could conceivably nudge into my top three.

I had always hoped to do Ama Dablam, but with all the guiding and fixed ropes that go on there, it's fallen well off my list. Mt. Huntington might be my no. 4.

Eiger - North Face
Denali - By something other than the standard route, like Cassin Ridge
Mt Rainier - Liberty Ridge (I know this isn't hugely ambitious, but growing up in the PNW it has always been a goal.

I've already climbed K2 and Devils Thumb, so what else is there?

Anyway, there are several peaks on my list (I keep my list realistic, but somewhat futuristic).

Fairweather
Foraker
Logan
Robson
Assiniboine

Saslaya

Ausangate
Illampu

Cameroon

Pulog
Muztag Ata
Ama Dablam
Pik Kommunizma

Of course I'm kidding myself. 1/4 of my income last year went to medical expenses and that probably won't change much in the near future. For the most part, our big climbing trips are over and we'll stick more and more local.

Absolutely nothing against having a list like this...but for some reason it's really hard for me to think in these terms. I don't have huge aspirations for amazing mountains across the globe. Everything I want to climb is a road trip away.

One mountain/area that I would love an opportunity to visit, however, would be Mount Waddington.

Denali via Cassin - Foraker via Infinite Spur - Hunter via Moonflower Buttress (close enough to count as one, right?)
K2. Enough said.
Lotus Flower Tower

Great Trango would be a plus too- ya know, a warm up for K2?

You never wonder what it would be like to be standing at the top of any of these peaks? The strength, the mental toughness it would take and then the stunning views once you got there?
