Who always brings a first aid kit? and a repair kit?

I always bring a first aid kit but it may vary from being only a roll of duct tape for ridiculously fast and light pursuits to a full-on almost trauma kit for multi day trips with youth groups. My repair kit so far has consisted of duct tape, thread and needle included in my huge first aid kit. I've recently purchased a tent type repair kit that I will use on multi-day trips when I carry a tent.

First aid kit = duct tape, a knife, string, matches. Needle and thread on longer trips.
Repair kit = duct tape, a knife, string, matches. Needle and thread on longer trips.

Don't feel like I'm missing anything important, though an Ace bandage and a SAM splint would each be nice in certain situations.

Here's something I just figured out: I pre-threaded the needle with a good length of thread. I've always had a needle and thread, but whenever something happened, threading the needle was such a daunting task that I would never even think of using it.

I never go on mountain without a First aid kit, the Repair kit I always skip it i never know why.

In September I was on a 4 days trip (4 person group), nobody had a fire starter , So the most important gear is the fire starter always check before go.

Mountain Route

No such thing as "essential gear." It all depends on where I'm going and what I am planning.

Purely on an academic level, for outdoor pursuits, the first aid kit, repair kit, means of orientation, food and more water are considered 'essential gear'.
In this post, following my own observations over the years, I was wondering about other outdoor enthusiasts habits.

A head lamp is always in my pack. As well as the above mentioned first aid, repair kit on longer ventures, tp, and a compass.

Lol great I'm going to LA this summer and I don't have an Uzi, plus I doubt I could take it on the plane anyway!

Beer.

Recorder and harmonica.

On overnighters I forgot to put whisky.

Break it down into separate checked luggage and you'll be fine. I do the same with my crampons.
