Any help in identifying the mountain in this image would be appreciated. I have had a number of suggestions, but attempting to confirm those with the associated National Park Service has been unsuccessful to date.

So, you're saying it's located in the lower 48 ???

Unable to say as I don't know. My reference to "National Parks" was based on the most recent speculation by friends...

Obviously, "speculation" has never been one of my finer points, but it does look like something you'd find in Alaska.

This makes me want to go to Alaska.

The "consensus" such as it is would suggest somewhere in Alaska. I have already had a reply from Denali NP [negative]; contacted Wrangell-St. Elias NP, but no response to date. "cdog" may be right [?]. I struggle with recognition and different perspectives, i.e. aerial vs. ground.

Where is the photo from (i.e. which website)?

To me, it looks somewhat similar to Mount Tyree (Antarctica), but I haven't seen many aeriels photo of it. I would bet that Damien would know if it is or not (I'm guessing not).

Do you know if it is in North America? If it is, it would have to be in AK or Canada.

It IS Mt. Saint Elias.

That has been suggested before [outside this thread]. I have queried the Wrangle-St. Elias NP Service on this, but they have not replied.

I was recently given a framed print of a mountain I was told was Rainier but it clearly isn't based on the features on the mountain and in the foreground.

Any help? I have compared it to all the major volcanoes I could find in western USA as well as several from Mexico and Bolivia but I can't find a match.

note the cactus and open grasslands in the foreground...

If you compare it with St. Elias, the physical features match up perfectly. Why even wait for a response from the NPS ???
