Thank you so much for all the positive thoughts. My wife cried when she read this thread. As an update, the weather was beautiful in Seattle yesterday so I walked the dogs for one mile ! and washed the car. Tomorrow is my final follow up appointment will my eye surgeon. Hopefully I will get my eye glasses prescription and I get get glasses soon and be seeing better. The course of this illness has always been one step forward, two steps back, but I remain hopeful I will continue to improve this time.

EB you have crossed some dark area for the last 15 months...

And I thought my case was hard, even with Acute Leukemia and a 30%-35% chance to survive my defect and treatment, I have a line to follow, defined treatment and all that.

For what I read here, it took the doctors a hell of a time to find an effective drug for you case, am I right?
Man, don't fall down, but if you fall, get you ass up and keep walking. Ironically we got sick by the same time, how odd is this? hehehe
I felt my first symptoms in dec 2011.

Best wishes from Brazil

I had bifocals as a kid, and my eyes "grew out" of the need for them. Maybe once your brain keeps recovering and gets used to the effects of the surgery, things will get better over time. If not, only cool kids wear coke bottle glasses these days :-)

keep fighting, get well soon!

I just got my glasses Rx: progressive lenses to improve far distance, middle distance, and reading distance. No lines in the lenese, who would've thunk?

I wore those for years. My "far" correction isn't much, but helps when driving. My near is crap-- in driving, I need to look through the bottom of the glasses just to see the speedometer clearly!

Some people get used to bifocals when outdoors -- I never wore them enough outside, so I was always misjudging distances when my eyes went from the top to bottom. In outdoor lighting, I can usually see well enough without the glasses, even a few feet away, as when I am looking for handholds. That's a pleasant surprise, because I can't read much of anything without bifocals (or those cheap reader you buy at the supermarket).
