I decided to find out on my own what the most common peak names are. So, I got a database of all official USGS peaks, and found the top 10 most common peak names in the USA.
1) Round Mountain - 298 peaks
2) Bald Mountain - 292 peaks
3) Black Mountain - 256 peaks
4) Red Hill - 167 peaks
5) Little Mountain - 165 peaks
6) Table Mountain - 151 peaks
6) Green Mountain - 151 peaks
8 ) Red Mountain - 150 peaks
9) Sugarloaf Mountain - 149 peaks
9) Pine Mountain - 149 peaks
This list doesn't count similarly-named peaks (e.g., "Red Mountain", "Red Hill", and "Red Ridge" are all counted separately.)

More miscellaneous stats:
57,341: the total number of unique peak names
39,147: the number of peaks with a name shared by no other peak

I needed a distraction, so I did something similar for lakes:
1. 645 Mud Lake
2. 422 Long Lake
3. 346 Horseshoe Lake
4. 272 Round Lake
5. 247 Twin Lakes
6. 233 Lost Lake
7. 206 Clear Lake
8. 205 Mud Pond
9. 178 Silver Lake
10. 166 Spring Lake

I'm surprised Mud Lake beat out Long Lake.

A personal favorite: Bad Marriage Mountain in Glacier National Park

My wife uses this as a generic name for any hike we take that is harder than I initially laid out.

Sorry ... newbie here. Does the name have to be within the United States? Anyway, here's an international one ...
