It's the journey back home that matters to me ... I don't want to fall asleep at the wheel ..

Indeed, the 90’s were a good time to be alive. The Cold War was ending as they began. Things we thought were major problems and conflicts then, seemed to magnify after the millennium turned. Music went in some interesting directions. We had CDs instead of tapes, but making good mix tapes was still a big thing. Some of mine included classic rock recorded from my dad’s record player. I listened to the Seattle sound for awhile, and enjoyed MTV unplugged.

Some suspected lies were being told...

...others didn’t complain much, feeling there was no real harm in the end and they’d been entertained.

Of course, truth is often even more interesting, even if darker and stranger.

Making it back home is key for me, too.

Sometimes I think to myself, What a long, strange trip it’s been!

I reckon the past is in the past and the future is yet to come. Take a gander at these fine young men ... definitely gotta HEAD START on everybody else in the Music World ...

I reckon .... ...

Impressive performances all around!
It's good to see that some traditional ways of passing time will carry onward and to new heights!

I mean there's the Soggy Bottom Boys and Steve Martin, but it's good to imagine that someone will be around playing interesting music when Josh is in his senior years, lest we be stuck with this and the implications:

BTW, the number of posts and hits in the related mountain music threads lower down on the page is impressive, but I suspect that was before the days of YouTube on SP. The horror! The horror! Is life better or worse without cheap tricks? I suppose there's room for more than one kind of show.

Were there lyrics? I didn't notice.

You cannot go wrong with Billy Cobham's Stratus, featuring the searing guitars of the late, great and unsung Tommy Bolin:

Speaking of Tommy Bolin, he composed a song for a 70's rock climbing documentary called "Naked Edge". It works pretty well too:

When I was a kid in the early 80's, my older brother (12 years older!) would take me on trips up to Tahoe. He would always play Joe Walsh, the James Gang and the Little River Band, all of which I now associate with heading into the mountains. Talk about being programmed!
