I have to write a paper about a stock of my choosing for my high school Econ class. I was hoping to write about an outdoor company. I know Black Diamond is publicly traded (reverse merger with Gregory, right?), but I am curious if there are any others out there. Thanks.

You could try looking on all their websites. If they are publically-traded companies you'll usually see an 'investor relations' tab somwhere on the site that'll give you basic financials for the company, most even have historical info and some guideance on future planning/growth.

Are you only looking for equipment companies, and/or do they have to be publically-traded companies? Try contacting some guide companies and see if they'll give you some info. Most are not publically traded, but call them up and see if they'll give you some info that might be enough for a basic economics class. Might also try something like REI - not what I'd call a 'true' outdoor company, and its a 'co-op' (or should that be a 'co-op-ted' company? ) but its an option.

Go to the manufacturers websites and look under company info. Some companies will post their annual reports online and other data (im not sure about the outdoor industry, or small companies though).

Try looking in Google Finance or Yahoo Finance under Black Diamond or Johnson Outdoors and look under "Related Companies", that will give you some ideas.

Jarden Corporation is a conglomerate that has a lot of ooutdoor brands as well as other lines of business. A Fortune 500 company, there is a lot of information out there about Jarden. Interesting majority owner and many acquisitions coulld provide good fodder for a paper.
