Colorado climbing legend Bill Forrest died at the age of 73. He was snowshoeing Monarch pass with his wife when he suddenly collapsed. I have to say, that's the way to go.....doing what you want. The guy was a legend and made notable advances in climbing equipment, most notably the "friends". He also made some pioneering ascents in the Black.

Had an uncle during the Holidays who suddenly collapsed and died while he was eating a hamburger.

This Forrest guy was most certainly doing what he enjoyed best, and will be most surely missed.

Found some older Apinst journals form 2008. #24 has an article on him making the modern type harness. He sold his first twelve harnesses to Holubar. Maybe an article on this guy is in order. He has a lot of gear inventions that has contributed to modern climbing.
