What's the go-to site for avalanche conditions on major peaks? I'm looking for one that gives up to date info as they get it and goes into details such as fresh loading, depth hoar, etc. Also, what's the best site for weather forecasts for major peaks and ranges?

This is good for the PNW (except for the fact that it doesn't go S of Hood...):

The Mt. Shasta ranger station always provides 1st class beta about the snow conditions on the mountain, & they're super nice guys overall too: 530.926.4511

You will need to narrow that request down a bit. Which specific ranges do you want to know about? Post it to the area specific board and you will get the info you need.

Yeah, I wasn't very clear on that. :) I meant, is there one site where you can select the range you want info on? Or do you have to go to each individual forest service or park page to find the info like usual? It's not that big a deal, would just save a bit of time for trip planning if one were trying to find the best conditions between a few viable destinations.

I'm not aware of any broad coverage avy forecasting.. Just regional organizations. Shasta has one, NWAC does Baker through Hood, others do others.
