Well, not really old... only 47. I have been in the mountains since I was 3 months old. I was born on April 26 and three months later I was camping in the Uinta Mountains with my parents and three older sibs. I've asked, but my parents don't remember bagging a peak during that trip. If I get serious, sometime I'll have to look through 1000s of photo slides my parents have.

The glorious Uinta Mountains are my most roamed area. Other places are Southern Utah (both the Four Corners area and the Zion Nat'l Park area), the Deep Creek Mountains, Southern Idaho and so many other well known places. One place that I have been that I count as rather rare is being flown by helicopter to the peak of Granite Mountain within the area of Dugway Proving Ground, an army installation created one month after December 7th, 1941.

I know I'll enjoy coming here and reading and sharing.

Kind Regards,

James.

James, Welcome, plenty of us "old folks" around! I'm taking my first trip to the Uintas in two weeks. Can't wait!

I worked @ Dugway Proving Ground in 1981, and don't forget 'bout the Stansbury Mountains and those mountains around Vernon and Eureka ... you might
strike gold and be set for the rest of your life !

James - welcome to SP. At 47 I would bet you fall into the median age group around here, so don't feel bad. I think you are younger than anyone that has responded so far.

Awwwww, man, I saw Peter Gabriel sing Solsbury Hill in 1978 in the Ackerman Ballroom at UCLA...about 300 students sitting there in fold-out chairs.

Sad to say, the arrow of time points in only one direction.

And regarding that "arrow of time points in only one direction" check out an aged Peter Gabriel in the attached Link. Wallflower definitely ranks high on my list of Peter Gabriel favorites.

RGP (short for Rockgardenplants),

Welcome to SP from an 'Old-guy'. I've done a fair amount of resort skiing in Utah and enjoyed the greatest snow on earth. The only Utah peak I've visted is Timpanogos, which was a rewarding experience. I'm looking forward to someday getting into some Uintah backcontry.
