Hi Guys,

I'm new to the forum, and was directed here to do some research.

I am making a short documentary in the UK about rock climbers and mountaineers and their stories. I'm looking for people with amazing stories, and preferably older people as I think this would be an interesting angle ( we see so much about young people ).

The documentary will be entered into festivals, its mainly a bit of fun but I have a professional crew so we will be making a proper documentary!

if you know someone who is an interesting character and or has an interesting story. please send them my way.

Hi Chris.

I imagine, for practical reasons, climbers based in the UK would be of most use to you.

If you go to the top right of your screen and search "people" from the drop down menu and then use the advanced search function to filter for country you can create a lst of UK climbers. There's over 30 pages of them. You could pull up their profile pages which will usually tell you their age and send a pm or an email to people who you think might be suitable.

Don't know if you have heard of the site walkhighlands.co.uk. It might be another place to look. It's geared toward hiking/climbing/walking the mountains of England/Scotland. But I don't know much about the folks who frequent the site. Your project sounds interesting. Good luck!

Take a look at the Keswick Mountaineering Club in the Lake District, has several members over, let's say, thirty-nine.
They made their own pretty decent documentary just for fun a few years ago.

Too bad you are based in the UK. One of my friends Pete, who is in his mid-50's was the first Brit to climb E5, did the third ascent of Equinox (5.12c) in J-Tree.... very interesting individual. Has the typical British understatement, and humor... great individual.. and climbing very hard...
