I was expecting to find out more here but to my great surprise nothing yet.
So here it is, today morning I found out on Josh's facebook account that he had a bad fall near the Banff area and just returned home with many injuries.

Here is a first mention of his accident :
"Josh is in Calgary, and his mom has spoken to a doctor at the facility. He has a spinal and collarbone fracture and and is undergoing surgery tomorrow to his finger. Josh's mom feels that his climbing partner was very heroic in his endeavor to get Josh safely off the mountain and is grateful for all of his help."

Here is his first post since returning home :
"I am so thankful to have made it home alive from a serious mountain climbing accident. I broke my collar bone, shattered my pinky, fractured many spots in my back and neck, a nasty puncture in my side, big lacerations in my head, and many more minor injuries. It will be a long time until I get back into climbing. Even being able to eat food by myself sounds good."

Seems that Josh is already back online and probably will soon connect to SP. Let's wish him a quick recovery.

Glad to know you're back home Josh. Let's face it, it could've been much worse.
Wishing you a quick recovery.
Marc

Hope you heal quickly buddy! Considering what COULD have happened, glad to hear you're home and healing under loving touches. Maybe now you'll have time to work on that side-project of yours, the Haagen-Daz flavor a day project!
Keep us posted on your recovery, Josh.

Pleas accept my good wishes and gratefulness that you are alive and that your partner was able to get you to help. I hope you recover well and at the very least, have a great story to tell.

Wow Josh... let's hope the only lasting result is that now you can tell stories about the incident. Get better.

There was once a time when the most I hoped for was being able to walk again. A good physical therapist makes a huge difference. When the time comes, look for a PT with similar interests.

Hey Josh

Good luck in your recovery. You made it this far, so you will make it back if you want.

As for spinal injury recovery, if you ever want to talk, drop me a line, more than willing to talk. Myself I am just over a year out from a C4/C5/C6/C7 (7 fractures I counted in the surgical report). It will come back, but just have patience. A year ago at this time I could lift 5 lbs max, and now I am back climbing almost at the level I was before. It will happen, just listen to your doctors, and your PT's. Everyone will recover differently because each injury is unique, but it may be different but you can still do it if you want to (I don't feel my fingers anymore but still climb, its just a different experience).

People will tell you to short cut what the docs say, and normally I did that too (hell, with a broken leg, I would boulder- close to the ground tho), but with this injury I really recommend that you actually do listen to them (I did to the letter of the doctors words). This injury is a different beast and messing this one up could mean living with significant pain the rest of your life

also one more word of advise for the spinal injury, when you do start climbing again, Belay Glasses, while extremely dorky will be a saving grace. it makes belaying for me tolerable, outside of what would cause severe cramping
