On that note I want to get out on some ice this year too. Got my own gear, just need a little mentoring. And long approaches don't scare me. I'm sure one of you will take advantage of the "will belay for mentoring" call.

On another note, I've got a sudden uncontrollable desire to go to Ecuador this winter. I need partners though. Any takers? I know you have some unfinished business Matt...

Pricecicle is in, as well as some other hwy 6 ice. Timp must be perfect right now...too bad I cant go for 3 weeks minimum

Oh man, I wish I could get back. I could definitely give you all the logistical info from my trip. It was stellar! An absolute "must-do" type of trip. You get great altitude experience on mountains that are only moderate in difficulty and danger. If I remember correctly, the best time for good weather windows is mid-Dec. through January.

Me and a few others are starting at Alta on this Friday morning and linking the Bullion Divide and the Beat-out trail. I have Friday to Sunday to do this, but I am thinking it will take less time then that. If anyone else would like to go PM me.

How did this go?

I went up Olympus last Wednesday and snapped a picture looking towards Broads Fork Twin Peaks. It was a gorgeous day but the smog was building up quickly.

We had the summit to ourselves and were (according to the log) the last people to be up in the past couple days. Since we took almost the whole day and didn't see anybody heading up in time to summit I think we may have been the only people to summit that day. Neat stuff!

Great shots everyone, Especially the Mount Olympus one, that has a nostalgic feeling to it.

Ammon Hatch it went good. We did not make it the whole way though. I have some pictures I will be putting on here soon. I am also putting together a TR.

Very nice pics, the Silver Island Mts are one of my favorite places. A great getaway from SLC, drop the wife off in a casino for a few hours and explore the desert. Meet a while later for a wonderful prime rib buffet and room on the house.


The desert in the Fall has a unique beauty



Volcano and Rashel peaks as seen from Tetzlaff. I climbed them this year and the experience is always pretty awsome. I've been there in the blistering heat and also the icy cold. The area is pretty much devoid of trees and people. I did come across a herd of Bighorn sheep on two diifferent occasions. Always an adventure.



Near the summit of Volcano peak. The route I took up involved some serious exposed scrambling that made an old guy like me soloing a bit apprehensive. But hell, the summit was within reach and was calling me. Luckily I found a way down that was a lot less exposed.
