Very cool cover on the new mgear catalog, anyone know where this is?

The photographer was Whit Richardson, the climber is Ralph Ferrara, the description says "a sandstone arch in Utah."

Anyway, a very cool photo and fun looking climb.

I just got this too, I was wondering the same thing!

Wow, really cool. I'm not into ice climbing, but the fact that it's in Colorado Plateau sandstone makes me tempted.

Don't you just hate when catalogs don't list the photo locations on the inside cover or something?

Bobbys Hole/Harts Draw, just east of Canyonlands NP.

Anyway, for those that don't know how to get there, the route starts just north of the Wind Whistle Campground on the Needles Overlook Road. Just north of Wild Whistle Rock is a rough dirt road heading SW which is the best place to park.

I assume icing up like that is a pretty rare occasion though.

I KNEW that Scott would know, but I forgot to post that fact earlier.

I saw some recent photos from southeast Utah that showed snow down at elevations I would not expect. The Colorado-Dirty Devil confluence area in Lake Powell was mostly covered in ice, which seemed odd, considering there is a small but non-zero flow there. That's around elevation 3700 feet.

Good to know. Looks like we were all thinking the same thing when we saw that photo. Definitely a place I want to visit.

This has been one of coldest December/January's that the area has seen for a while, my be a great shot of finding the ice in good form right now.

That guy really sewed up the climb, eh?
