Five of us made it up Tanners today and did the Triple Traverse. The conditions on the lower 4/5 were very firm (but not particularly icy) and supported us without snowshoes. Softer on the last 1/5. Yes we used crampons. Yes there was some avalanche debris but there were lots of smooth sections too. You will probably only find a noticeable boot track on the last 1/5. There was a thick snowpack all of the way to Sunrise and it wasn't icy. There is a very nice boot track (thanks to Joseph Bullough and Moogie737 who did it on Friday) all of the way along the ridge.

There is also a WMC group doing it tomorrow as well. We had a great time. Hope you do too.

The overnight temps are forecasted to be quite low for this time of year next weekend (Sunday/Monday) which = LOW avalanche danger. Just wondering if there is any interest on climbing something big.......Box Elder, Cold Fusion, Tanners ect.....

Snowshoed up to Lake Blanche (A May tradition of mine) on the 8th. I was sure to take the traditional/obligatory Sundial photo, seen below.

The images in my post show fine for me, from multiple internet connections? I don't know what to tell you. Thanks, though. ;)

No worries! They show up as HTML tags, so I thought I'd do you a favor and post them.

Okay, I just tried viewing my post in Firefox (was using Chrome) and it displayed the HTML as text, as you describe. Weird. I've edited the post to remove the html and just use the BBcode. Sorry, everyone.

I must say I'm jealous. Looks gorgeous up there. I like the shots of the sluffs coming down Robert's. One year I saw the same activity coming down the cliffs from the summit hut to Emerald Lake. It's quite something.

Wow, I'm so jealous, I've never seen a bighorn sheep before! Such great pictures, too! (and not just of the sheep)

That's a killer shot. He's got the evil eye. The goats/sheep always look like they are diseased while they're shedding.
