Anybody been up to Apsen Grove since the snow? See any snow/ice? I'm looking at doing some climbing up there..

Well, I figured I'd go check it out myself. The weather was rather appropriate for Halloween -- no ghouls encountered, though, just a couple backpackers.

The complex face across from the Robert's Horn (looming to the left on the hike up). Anybody know what this peak is called? Or climbed any of the gullies?

Snow line was around 8500 feet. I'll be back in a couple weeks with partner and ice tools...

The peak across from Roberts Horn is called East Peak/Elk Point. Ice always seems to form on that cliff face even when areas located higher up Aspen Grove don’t have much.

Nice! I'm interested for an attempt on the East Face of Robert's Horn as the ice thickens. Hopefully around Thanksgiving.

Ha, ha. Look at the temps for next week! Let the ice season really begin...
