Thanks Larry, the maples are a bright red, but the aspens are just barely starting to turn.

Thanks for the advice ... I was outside today getting friendly with leaves ... then, I saw the neighbor's dog relegated to awesome CHORES ...

Normally, an autumn leaf leaves its tree due to the abscission layer. The same thing makes an apple drop out of its tree.
