I selling almost NEW Mountain Hardwear South Col 4200-5000cu in backpack (Medium – 2010 model no longer available) that I got as a gift. It has only been used a few times for day hikes and it is in excellent condition (everything works as it would in a brand new pack - I may still have the tags some place). I have a small frame and this backpack is little big for me so selling it for $165 (plus free shipping) and at a significant discount - the new model is sold for $270 now. This is an awesome pack that is big enough to carry everything you could want, yet is extremely light weight at only 4 lbs, and less than 2lbs when stripped down for your summit push. If you are looking for a mountaineering bag that will hold all your gear, crampons, ice axe, etc. for large trips but slims down for smaller ones, this is your guy.

Description:
Ed Viestrus designed the Mountain Hardwear South Col Backpack for guiding on Everest. He wanted one pack to go from base camp to the summit, and this is it. Ultralight 100D Cordura construction and a super-clean design helps this large 4600cu inch pack keep its weight under four pounds. Need to go lighter? Just take off the lid, remove the hip-belt, and strip the frame sheet to shave 1 ½ pounds for that summit push. If Ed declares the Mountain Hardwear South Col Backpack good enough for the big E, chances are it'll get the job done on your next Mt Rainier trip.

Trek with all of your gear to base camp, then head for the summit without having to take a break to switch out your packs - the Mountain Hardwear South Col does it all. Developed with direct input from Mountain Hardwear's 2007 athlete team, versatility for the serious athlete has been built into every feature.

Features:
- Balance comfort, ventilation, snow shedding, and load transfer with the HDPE framesheet with an alloy shaping rod and compression-molded backpanel
- Save your shoulders for the final push thanks to dual-density shoulder straps and dual-density hipbelt
- When it's time to be minimalist, strip out the framesheet and top pocket, and swap the hipbelt out for the included webbing
- Compress your load for a more stable carry with the hide-away, full-wrap compression straps
- Carry all your gear in the fully reinforced three-point haul system
- Glove friendly buckle designs can be operated without chilling your fingertips
- Save your rope from being dragged through mud and slush- store it with the under-lid rope strap
- Stay hydrated through your entire journey by filling the hydration-compatible design with your favorite hydration system
