Shoot, I thought getting paid $60 an hour to write code was low. I guess some folks are desperate enough to risk their life for $13.25 an hour though.

It doesn't go as far as you'd think living in the Seattle area with a mortgage and a daughter in med school. Families are expensive. Bear in mind in that tax bracket nearly 40% goes straight to Uncle Sam plus property taxes, utilities, and so forth.

it would go a minimal ways here, and we have a pretty low cost of living. $13.25 doesn't feed a family of 5. The sales people at the Verizon store here start at $15.....just saw it in the paper. Let's see......fall from tower after getting struck by lightning while climbing in 90+ degree heat.....or make $2/hr more while talking to people and playing with cell phones in air conditioning. I pick door number 2, Bob. I love how you get a MINIMUM of "15hrs a week of overtime) but you'll get a 3 day weekend? So on the weeks of 25hrs of overtime, you're stuffing those 25hrs into the 4 days? I doubt it.....sounds like Fri and Sat work to me! I'd do it if I were desperate, but I make a lot more than that doing much less dangerous work and I get to see my family every day.

So is alcohol, but employers can prohibit having alcohol in your bloodstream while working. Legal does not equal free for all.

At 50,000 a year, assuming 1.5 times normal base pay for overtime, that's more like 20+ hours a week over time minimum. So 60 hours a week, 1-3 weeks away from home at a time, a per diem that covers three fast food meals a day?

Just title this thread "I hate my employees".
