And for the record - I also locked no threads. Actually had to be told how this works by the other guys. So much for über-elf!

Still, I think I should rule them ...

Actually, you're wrong, it was helpful. I'm sure you're smart enough to see how, if you think about it.
But maybe I instead should have accused you elves of being powerhungry, destroying the site by deleting PnP, make people leave, and... I forgot what else right now. That'd be helpful?

:D
If you give me a fair verbal beating, will you too be banned then?

No, Lolli, you didn't get my meaning. But if I learned anything from these boards it is that you don't carry out these things in public. Currently - for the last page of this thread - you have been acting for an audience. Why?

Maybe I didn't get your meaning.
 But you're way wrong.

maybe you mean something else.

Nope, not at all.

I hope that isn't meant in a condescending and demeaning manner now..

Does it trouble you in some way? Are you disturbed by it?

Nope, not at all.

Maybe more time spent on what appears to be a decent TR instead of whining, being condescending to others and trolling to engage others on this thread, may just be more productive and positive for SP.

Just an observation.

Carry on....

Lolli:
Didn't he mean, that if a group of users wants to leave, so be it? It's up to them?

Yes.

biadh:
Confusing.

Yes. My apologies once again. Forget it. It's water under the bridge now.

Aaron said we have no idea of what goes on behind the scenes, and I agee. We don't, but when asked, it can't be discussed? so it shouldn't be referred to then

When asked, sometimes it cannot be openly discussed. It shouldn't be referred to? Perhaps. I would consider this in the future, but it's also good for members to know what they CAN about SP, and that what is seen in the forum is not always what it seems, and that there is much more to the picture than is immediately evident.

Again, it's a dead horse now.

Lolli:
Well, speculating, my guess would be he couldn't answer you without revealing something about the specific members? He wouldn't want to do that, would he?

Quite often this is the case. The general membership just has to understand that they cannot know all of the details involved with running SP for many, many reasons.

Bob Burd:
People will believe what they want to believe.

How true. No matter how hard one tries.

All jokes aside -- thanks elves for the work you do

Thanks.

I think it's dead now.

I selected some parts of the quote in bold.
This reminds me of a parent saying to their kid "you have to do this and mustn't do that and just have to accept it, cos you're too young to understand why". Aaron, things like that either shouldn't be said at all, or, when already said, should be explained to the end. As much as possible without breaching the privacy of the involved members, but without speaking in riddles. The words I put in bold, IMHO, just reflect the way the whole PnP problem was dealt with.

When it comes to PnP, I rarely ventured there, sometimes enjoying reading some fun threads. I couldn't care less about the flame wars and wasn't really interested what was going on in that field, until now when shit really hit the fan when PnP got spectacularly nuked. I have an impression that what used to be limited to the few individuals dwelling in the dark corners of PnP, is now spilling over to the mainstream SP.

Aaron, you and other elves have my greatest respect for running and maintaining this greatest mountaineering website on the planet. I won't really miss PnP, I just don't like the way the problem was dealt with. It seems to me that it created a lot more bad blood than there was before. Sad to see some highly contributing members leave together with their great pages. I can't imagine myself deleting my stuff cos my modest contributions are not just for the 'management' but for everyone and for myself, but everyone's different. I've read some relevant discussions recently and I agree the most with Bob Sihler, I could put my signature under his every word.

Just thought you might be interested in an opinion from a completely neutral observer.

Cheers,
Kamil
