That would be really sweet. Not difficult, either, if you have the data. You can do Google Earth and Google Maps stuff like that straight from spreadsheets available all over the place. I tinker with it for my own hiking exploits, and Bob's site is an example of a larger personal database.

People often give the exact same coords for routes and TRs as for the mountain, so unless one implements a GoogleEarth-style "blow-up" when one clicks on a points, the map will be much the same. With 20 TRs for some peaks, that will be a crowded blow-up.

Is the current system of finding the peak on a map, clicking to get the summary page, then reading the list of routes and TRs really worse?

yeah, that's what I was picturing, too. Moapa is right, we would have some seriously crowded blow-ups, or some good work with regions (I believe that is the google earth term) that would only turn up flags at certain zoom levels. Or, you have a route/TR/mountain check list on the side, which is how I keep my maps from getting too crowded.

Slightly more accurate route coordinates might help uncrowd summits, but would probably crowd trailheads.

I'm a map freak anyway, but what you're talking about would be a fantastic interface. Like I said, not difficult on a small scale, but the amount of data we are talking about here might increase the difficulty a bit. On the other hand, what a great way to reduce the noise.
