Small one: When I already voted on a photo: For example today's POTD (Waterfall by Vid)
It says opposite to the photo "not voted"

It appears that any tables made in the new (SPV2 or newer) editor have lost their borders. They show up under edit mode, but not after a page is edited. The ones created using the old editor still have borders, but it appears the old editor is gone(?).

I can't replicate that. Can you post a screenshot? When I vote, the "Not Voted" text changes to "XX Points".

Will the old(est) editor be available or not?

It's still there in the same place, but not made prominent. The URL is:
https://www.summitpost.org/edit_object. ... _id=652688

Just change the object_id to match whatever page you wish to edit.

New editor:

Old Editor:

https://www.summitpost.org/park-range-1 ... nce/317962

It seems to be more than the gridlines, the whole formatting seems screwed up and smashes things together.

Another bug. You can only delete one cell or one column/row at a time when editing tables. This increases the time necessary to create pages astronomically, especially since the new editor doesn't work for tables anymore.

The new editor attempts to go through and clean up malformed HTML code. So it does parse some things. It's also possible that it changes the CSS class on the tables (or the HTML structure).

But both of the two pages you posted are readable and look good to my eye. So what is the issue exactly? I'm not seeing one....or at least not understanding what the problem is.

If you go into HTML view by clicking on the <> sign in the top left corner of the editor, you can edit the raw HTML and quickly add as many columns or rows as you want. Also, if you're actually putting content into each column or row, you have to add that content, so actually clicking on the editor to insert another row really only takes a matter of a second or two. But if you want to quickly create a very large table, I'd suggest editing the raw HTML. I can look at making a way to specify table size too instead of adding one row or column at a time.

In what way exactly? I tested it and it seemed to make tables just fine.

On both of my computers and the cell phone, all the numbers and columns are "squished together". I'm not sure what you are seeing where everything looks OK. Do you have a screenshot?

Here's what I see:

Here's how it looks in edit mode (which is how it should look):

I tried eliminating the problem by using center alignment, but it just reverts everything back to left alignment no matter what and squishes everything together. This is true for all pages that were created in the new editor.

At least this is how everything displays on my computers/cell phone.

If you go into HTML view by clicking on the <> sign in the top left corner of the editor, you can edit the raw HTML and quickly add as many columns or rows as you want. The only way I can find to eliminate the above is to go to a page with a table with the old editor; use the old editor to copy and paste the code; and then create my new page with new editor before changing it to old editor; then cut and pasting the code in old editor, before changing the new page back to the new editor. I don't know of another way to avoid the missing borders and jumbled mess.

When the new table is created, I have to delete all the old data one cell at a time, rather than doing it all at once like we use to be able to do.

I could play around with that html view you point out, and see if I can find something that works, but it sure was easier before.

Edit: I still don't see how to get the borders in tables using the tool above.

Also, I have an excel spreadsheet that used to do all this for me, but it doesn't seem to work in the new editor.

Maybe (?) I could use the tool pointed out to insert a bunch of break tabs to separate columns, but that seems really time consuming and not a good way to do it.

In what way exactly? I tested it and it seemed to make tables just fine.

Mine always makes a jumbled mess such as the above. It doesn't seem to work for me.

Yes Matt, that is right. When I vote the text changes to "XX points". What I mean is when I go to another page and come back later to the photo I voted on it states: "not voted".

I have tried making new pages. I click on "table" and an empty 3X3 small table is created but I can not put the cursor in the cells of the table so I can not put any pictures or text in the table, it just remains empty.

I put pictures in my page, click on them and use "align right" or "align center" and absolutely nothing happens. the pictures remain on the left.

I click on "<>", use old HTML codes and am able to create tables the way I used to. If I ever go back to re-edit the page the HTML code is automatically changed and all the pictures get out of the table and go on the left side of the page.

The codes for inserting my GPS track in the main page no longer work. How do I show the GPS track map on the main page?

I also noticed (this is more minor) that all photos in charts created under the old editor seem to have a darker band towards the bottom of the photo. Of course this is more minor than the problem above.

Ah, it was too late in the day for me to notice that! Yes, I see it. I am guessing it must be due to a difference in how we're stylizing tables right now. That could be a relatively easy fix. I'll ask the design guy.

Scott wrote:The only way I can find to eliminate the above is to go to a page with a table with the old editor; use the old editor to copy and paste the code; and then create my new page with new editor before changing it to old editor; then cut and pasting the code in old editor, before changing the new page back to the new editor. Yeah, that's not going to work. I'm going to need to better understand the issue by investigating the HTML, so can you post a link to a page with good table HTML? Then post a link to a page where you've created a table with the new editor so I can compare what exactly the difference is between the two.

Scott wrote:Also, I have an excel spreadsheet that used to do all this for me, but it doesn't seem to work in the new editor.

If you send the spreadsheet to me, I can see why it is no longer working.

Lodewijk wrote:What I mean is when I go to another page and come back later to the photo I voted on it states: "not voted".

Oh, I see. Hmm, that shouldn't be the case. I just looked and verified that is happening. Bug identified and we'll get it fixed.

nader wrote:I have tried making new pages. I click on "table" and an empty 3X3 small table is created but I can not put the cursor in the cells of the table so I can not put any pictures or text in the table, it just remains empty.

I'll look into that.

nader wrote:I put pictures in my page, click on them and use "align right" or "align center" and absolutely nothing happens. the pictures remain on the left.

I noticed that today as well. That was working before we made the new site live, so I don't know why it's not working now. We'll look into it.

nader wrote:I click on "<>", use old HTML codes and am able to create tables the way I used to. If I ever go back to re-edit the page the HTML code is automatically changed and all the pictures get out of the table and go on the left side of the page.

Well, that's super annoying. Hopefully we can get that resolved quickly.

nader wrote:The codes for inserting my GPS track in the main page no longer work. How do I show the GPS track map on the main page?

I'll have to test this as well. I didn't change anything with regards to that during the migration, so in theory it should still function. But there are quite a few things that were broken that didn't seem like they would have been, so this one is another example of that. I'll test it and figure out what's going on.

Scott wrote:I also noticed (this is more minor) that all photos in charts created under the old editor seem to have a darker band towards the bottom of the photo. Of course this is more minor than the problem above.

Added to the list of things to address.

I figured most of the problems would be associated with the editor. It was the last thing we worked on and I wasn't really ready to make the new site public yet, but it seemed as though there was going to be a riot if it wasn't made public right away. I didn't get to do basically ANY testing of the new editor before transitioning to the new site. So please keep the bugs coming and we'll do our best to work quickly and get them fixed.

Lodewijk, can you please check this again. I believe it is fixed now.
