Hi !

Thanks to the SP staff for repairing the forum of MBPost.
However a couple of things need to be fixed :
- Icons on the left of forum entries do not appear, neither the icons for : Quote, Edit/Delete, Delete this post, View IP address
- Go to Administration Panel returns the following error :
Template->make_filename(): Error - file admin/index_frameset.tpl does not exist
Besides of that, the quantity of spam is getting unbearable, hundreds of spams are arriving daily, they cannot be deleted one by one anymore, a solution must be found like a catchpa, or a systematic moderation.
- The Elf_tools page does not work for those who are normally granted this access

Thanks !
On behalf of the whole MBPost community ;)

Just an idea, but is it possilbe to make a section on the SP Forums page for cycling? Maybe start with a few subforums; road, MTB,trips & trip reports, trails & routes, races, and any others that seem appropriate? There seem to be a lot of SPrs who also cycle, so this might create added interest in a cycling related website, and determine if there's enough interest (and activity) for a separate site.

Hi !
One strange issue: the mailboxes of few of us show several unread messages that we cannot see. For me, it was 2 during couple of years (we've heard it's connected to the jerseys address request), and today it went to 4 for some reason...

Another request: while the new features green-titled frame remains on the left, it would be good if the link to MBPost on the right top corner of SP could come back, to keep bringing some fresh blood and new submissions. We are currently trying to update it on a weekly basis like SP to make it more attractive, so the link to it would be appreciated.

Thanks !
The MBPost community.

A problem that also exists on SP. Matt knows about it. I'll check it out on MBP.

I'll see what I can do.

Seems as though it has been a long time since new features have been added to summitpost. I think the link to mbpost should return! Most folks already know about the new sp features.

Help !!
MBPost is currently being intensively spammed. I tried to block IPs and users but the most I ban, the most they are back. Worse, I see the same adverts coming again and again with new IPs and I have no idea how to ban them...
It seems that the user DB is full of sleeping fake users that are not immediately spamming, because those from where the spam come from are not the last created.
We didn't have such spamming issue for ages now since Ryle's last intervention couple of years ago. It feels like something is now suddenly broken.
Suggestion for a cleanup: would be good to filter all users whose country is elsewhere than US and having an US state selected. There is plenty of such fake users coming from both Estonia and Alabama....
Catchpas would also be a good firewall.
Thanks !
A tired forum moderator...

Agreed with this suggestion! Summitpost has one, why not one for mbpost? And why not have mbpost upgrade to phpbb3 which supposedly has more security to it. Because SP and Mbpost are relatively the same software (besides template) this should not be too hard to implement. We need a "Montana Matt" or a site maintainer to fix things up. The Sheriff's are getting tired of chasing off the invaders.

Spammers tend to be from "Alabama". Or they are very lazy, but still want to be in the US.

Larry, Josh,
Please do not wreck the thread with large "funny" images. This is meant to be read by the Elves of the Elves if we want to get it fixed...

Attention still needs to be had over at MBpost. So far the admins, mods and active users have made a good attempt to control all the junk forum posts, though a more long term solution is very much needed. A captcha generator or something similar would likely solve this problem.

MBpost has a lot of potential. Ushering in the newer upgrades that SP has seen over the last year would surely be beneficial. Also I believe adding a "MBpostGEAR" portion to the site, much like the SPGear section here, would be a huge benefit. Larger more popular mountain biking forums have sections of those sites designated for reviews on bikes and components, which draws a very large amount of traffic from the internet.

I do understand that the cost of an initial investment upgrading MBpost might seem daunting, however the long term results could really make the site shine, both for the contributing members, and possibly the site owners from a monetary standpoint.

For those of you out there who bike... from an occasional stroll around the block once in a while to the hardcore, get on the site! The atmosphere is laid back and fun. Come show off your ride! http://www.mbpost.com/
