Gangolf, every time I do glance at the front page, you stuff is on there. Try and be a bit more diversified in your selection process. There is no shortage of material to work with, technical climbing included.

I want to thank the elves for everything they do fo SP. It's difficult to please everyone ... impossible even. But, here is my sincere appreciation for everything you do to keep SP the best climbing site on the web.

I'm completely innocent. I have never dealt with mountains, routes and areas on the front page. Just articles and TRs. And it's about two years since I put the last TR of mine there.

But now each time I look at the front page I see your stuff up there

Lets get over the childish clicks and step it up and make the front page more mainstream for the majority of the potential viewership. My climbing level does not represent mainstream either. But we have tons of moderate climbing contributions that would be more relevant than a Germany hike or tourist perspective of a climbing crag in Germany. Time to quit blowing smoke up everyones ass. The site is so stale, it is chock full of pathetic cronyism. Mountain project is not on fire either, but they are miles ahead of us in this regard.

I said a couple times at the "recomendations for the first page" thread about the same subject. I never saw a brazilian mountain page on the first page, would be great to change a little bit.

First off I would suggest frequent updates of the front page, weekly updates are way too few. Daily updates at the least. Put individual items on there whenever it makes sense rather than wait a whole week and pick only three. The site has way too many great contributions to justify giving only so few per week front-page exposure. Showing 4 or 5 TRs and articles wouldn't hurt either IMO.

Show that you never ever even look at the pages (I don't blame you as I don't either) but never ever has a page of mine of that description been put up on the front page. Corsica is not in Germany, you know.

But again - addressed to the wrong person as I don't care about the featured pages. Never have as it is obvious that their main achievement is to please the submitter. The membership doesn't even look at them.

Featured pages overall: 739
Dow Williams: 45 featured pages, almost all of them routes
Gangolf Haub: 22 featured pages + 2 which I subsequently took over, most of them Area pages - about 5 mountains and surprisingly two routes

I realized that 4 of my Lanzarote pages were featured back in 2007 or 2008. Three of them would fit the description you gave, though in Spain not Germany

Actually I see 12 featured pages, 7 of them dealing with US topics

You can write an excellent page; but if it's not something that grabs people, it will linger. Dow's pages are chock full of what looks like great info... but I am not a rock climber, so I hesitate to vote. His pages are always very methodical and full of detailed instructions. But does my vote really count? I can only say that they are well-constructed.

Folks, other than for the REI discount, points don't matter. Replay Drew Carey on "whose line is it anyway?"

I gotta agree with Gangolf Haub on this one. I think it is fair for an elf to feature another elf's work if it is feature worthy. Or else it would not be fair to the elves.

So is this your way of saying you don't like my trip reports. I suppose I do add quite a few photos, but can't help it because I feel as though it gives people a good visual of what I saw in person.

But really. I once was a admin of a photo sharing website and featured myself once or twice which got one of the members a little stirred up because he knew that I was a admin and could do that. But if admins can never feature another admins work it feels a bit unfair if you ask me. Trust me I know what it's like to be in this situation.
