I opened up an existing page to edit it, and then switched to the old editor and saved the changes (without actually making any changes).

The text in the image captions changed from the white (or light blue for links) to the less readable dark blue.

This is the page:

OK the above only happened on my antiquated work computer that had IE7. That's probably the issue.

Yo Matt ... I tried clicking the "back color" button several times, then I clicked "submit changes," and nothin' happened. How does a person change the backdrop color ?

I'd like to give my thanks for making the effort into implementing the editor into SummitPost. Also I appreciate the money spend into it as well (this one isn't free, but it's what SP needed). For those curious where the editor came from, here it is. Matt had to do customizations to make it work with SummitPost as well as fix some compatibility issues.

Insert Image ->Search SP Images ->My Images Only ->Search->[my images are listed]->Click image to use [no response] ->Select [no response]->Insert [no image is inserted]

Where am I going wrong?

Matt, that's the same problem I was describing to you all on Saturday.

I've tried this on two different computers and in Chrome and Firefox and have gotten the same results.

Currently, I'm using the new editor for text and then switching to the old for pictures.

SHIT!!

OK so I just tried for the first to make a full page with the new editor and it has a fair share of glitches. As I was writing and inserting images there are a few things I noticed that frankly pissed me off. I apologize in advance for any ranting...

One, it gets very annoying to keep clicking from one method of inserting photos to another (since "Upload" method is the default.

Second...there should be a button for inserting a small photo. Currently the system only inserts a medium photo and when you resize a photo (say down to 200px) the photo gets compressed and looks blurry (trust me this does happen) Is there a way to have small and medium photo size buttons AND the photo width entry?

Third, and the worst of all is that I simply clicked on one of the photos to edit its properties and it glitched out on me and put ALL the text and even the headers way to the left side of the screen and wrapped around after only a few words on each line! Not knowing how to fix it I typed Control Z to undo and THAT DIDN'T DO ANYTHING!!

There has to be a way to undo something or this editor will be seriously hindered especially when those freak glitches happen. In anger I clicked back and I then realized I lost everything. If these glitches are going to continue you might lose my support for the new editor...

The last thing I noticed is that it wasn't saving me a whole lot of time to make the page.

I created a video showing this issue: (and yes this is my unofficial youtube account where I do testing operations)

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGsTh8yswy8[/youtube]

I tested after making the video just to confirm it has nothing to do with the select of the mouse position (if I make sure the blinking | symbol is on the screen). For some reason the second time I come back it suddenly works. As seen in the video it did not like the tall picture. This is because the editor sets the image box width to 375px when in reality the image is 500px wide.

What image were you inserting hansw? This bug has been reported by Sarah Simon as well and I'm thinking it has to do with the Javascript choking on a special character that is in the title or caption. If you tell me which image you chose when you "Click image to use" I can probably figure it out!

Matt, I don't know about Hans, but here is the image I was trying to insert: http://www.summitpost.org/hollow-rock-p ... 5/c-307131

Your right, the image that is selected indeed affects whether it works or not. Inserting my Whitney picture worked right away! The first image always does not display. :( When I sort it by "Newest" and "Oldest" the first image shows up just fine. Then when I swap back to "Quality" once again my number one rated photo does not display. :? Forgot to mention that I'm using Firefox version 18.0.2 (the latest version). I had my cache cleared (early today) before I even made the video. I have some testing ideas...

Edit: Same issue in Google Chrome even after clearing the cache and cookies.

I too tried inserting an image on Bob's page (hope you don't mind Bob, I did no saving to the page). It didn't work with that image (just like the video). It highlights blue around the select "box" and does nothing. I used the error counsel and found this:

Timestamp: 2/11/2013 6:04:22 PM
Error: SyntaxError: unterminated string literal
Source File: http://www.summitpost.org/new_edit_obje ... ine_anchor
Line: 1, Column: 52
Source Code:
javascript:fill_hiddens('838035','Hollow Rock Peak','Seen from the 4wd approach.

I did a test. When inserting the ID of my top rated image into the search, it still ends up being blank. But not with my second highest rated (2nd highest displays as it should). Here's a screen shot of this:

broken-image.png (65.94 KiB) Viewed 3535 times

Now here's the strange part, I logged into my brother's account on my computer. I opened the editor button, his top image displayed just fine! :?:

Yeay! Image inserting is working much better! My first image now displays and allows me to insert same for the other image too. I'll let you know if I see any problems, but so far it's working great. Thanks Matt.

I tried several of my images and no one worked so I don’t think it’s the caption. This one for example: 180168.

hansw's 180168 image indeed does not work. :? It has nothing to do with the DIV in the description either. For some reason it injects the following code into the styling:
style="width:336.20689655172px;"

The good news is I think I figured it out, the image does not have a medium size. So as a result it tries to call a medium image that doesn't even exist! Not sure how it was coded in the old SP, but there should be some checker that looks for the original if the medium one doesn't exist. This is a rare scenario, but hansw I believe is having this exact issue. I did a check to confirm this with another image. This one will not work either:
http://www.summitpost.org/mt-thomson-from-the-east/15724 (because it has no medium sized image to back it up) The reason these photos don't have medium sized images is because they are slightly too small.
