Since the big recent changes to SP, I have noticed that Featured Trip Reports are being updated on the front page multiple times every week.

There seems to not be consistency to this method, and some people might have busy work/home schedules which only allows enough time once per week to take the time to read each of them.

Can we please get back to updating trip reports only once per week? It used to be every Sunday(?), and that seemed to work well... allowing enough time for them to be viewed by the most possible regular SP visitors.

Thoughts?

Currently, featured trip reports are being changed on Sundays and Thursdays. The idea is to make the front page less static. We would reconsider that if there seemed to be a lot of desire to go back to the old system.

Everything except POTW and POTD is being changed more frequently. Here is the schedule, without the names of the people doing the updates:

Front page rotation:

Sunday: TRs and articles (1 or 2 each); featured pages (2 or 3)
Monday: no change
Tuesday: featured pages (2 or 3); 1 article
Wednesday: 1 article; featured pages (1 or 2)
Thursday: featured pages (1 or 2); TRs (1 or 2)
Friday: no change
Saturday: no change

Featured Photos Update Schedule-- 1 per day:

Monday
Tuesday
Wednesday
Thursday
Friday
Saturday
Sunday

There's always the button to go to the past featured trip reports.

I guess there really is a method to the madness.

I updated the featured trip reports last night. I suppose it was slightly inconstant with in the past where I featured earlier in the day. But that shouldn't matter much. A change was made recently on Sunday from 3 to 2. So now it's 2-4 fresh frontpage TRs per week. But typically 4.

I'll admit that the more rapid changes on the front page has taken some time to get used to...but overall I think it has been an improvement as far as keeping the front page fresh.

I use the What's New tab all the time, so the rapid updates don't impact what new stuff I choose to read. The changes on the front page just makes logging in a little more interesting.
