I'm planning on hiking Mt. Washington this summer.
Is there any requirements in hiking on Mt. Washington, such as permits etc.?
Also what is the best trail to do a day hike to summit and back ? I see the Lions head is 4.2M to summit.
Is there a shorter trail to the top, that is not difficult?

Thanks Ron for your help. We'll look up the Tuckerman Ravine trail per your suggestion.
Hopefully there is parking at the trail head. We are considering parking one car on the summit and hiking up and riding back to save time. Not the best way, but we will have wives in tow awaiting our return. Any problem with that such as it's a hundred mile drive summit to trail head.
thanks,

I am also considering ciimbing up to summit Baxter Peak, in Maine. What is the easier way to the summit?

1. Via Roaring Brook, or
2. The Abdol trail.

Ifanybody has any thoughts, I would appreciate it. I"m in decent shape (run), but past the 65 year mark. I can handle steep, but more concerned about climbing boulders and heavy rocks.
