Greetings!

I will be in Whistler/Blackcomb for Christmas skiing. One of the days, I was thinking of following a sking trail up from the village to the summit of Whistler. I had the following questions/concerns and wanted to seek your help:

1. Do they allow people to walk at the edge of the ski trails climbing up?
2. How long will it take to walk up from the village to the top of 'Little Whistler Peak'?
3. Can I hike up and take the gondola down? Do I need to have a pass?

Also, I wanted to spend some time taking photos. What are the scenic places in and around Whistler for photography.

Thanks guys.
Regards,
John

You should post this question at http://www.clubtread.com/sforum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=2
which is a local British Columbia - Vancouver based site.

Ski areas typically do not allow people to walk up ski runs due to liability issues since you would not have bought a ticket and would not have insurance coverage it you are hit by a skier. Snow probably will be too deep and unconsolidated to posthole all the way up.
Snow shoers and alpine tourers typically ski up side trails through the trees but you need equipment and trails are hard to find unless following someone who is breaking trail.
