Sounds like "Cody" is a bad guide. They aren't all like that.

Thanks for the food suggestions folks. Bacon it is! I was hesitant about it with the need to carry a frying pan and the risk of smelling up the tent & gear on day one, but sounds like it is well worth it. We're also going to bring some other foods to make the frying pan worthwhile.

My now-current wife and I are nine weeks away and getting psyched! Anyone else out there counting down the weeks until their trips?

Been on Denali twice now and have seen many guides with their clients. I can honestly say, I have not seen a "Cody" type up there.

I also had the exact opposite experience of the "Cody" guide when I was there. We had a small weather window to go for the summit from 17k, so our guides took the stronger half of the group up to the summit while the rest acclimatized longer back at camp. Then, the next day, after the weather had improved, the guides went back up to the summit with the remaining members of the team.

All right, i found a partner. Super excited to be going! I know that guides can be great. I've met some really impressive ones. I did not mean to infer that they are all like that. Apologies.
