Peru next April; anyone interested?

I noticed that airfare to Peru from Denver was really cheap. Unfortunately, it was also that way in the summer, but the summer price rose before I decided to book it a few days later (I was originally going to head to Cuzco/Ausangate in June/July). Arequipa Peru from Denver is still around $675 round trip for spring, which is a really good deal (other parts of Peru don’t have good weather during Spring, but Arequipa is reasonable) .

Booked on Orbitz (for some reason it’s more expensive to book through the airlines directly; I checked them all).

Instead I’m headed down March 22-April 6 and already have my tickets (I don’t think airfare is going to stay this low for long, so hurried and booked it).

There are lots of choices, but one would be do a circuit around Haulca Hualca (6025 meters/19,797 feet), Sabancaya (5976 meters/19,606 feet), and Ampato (6288 meters/20,630 feet), while climbing Ampato and Hualca Hualca (Sabancaya is active, so I don’t think I’d climb it). A stop at Colca Canyon would be planned to.

There are other choices and peaks that could be chosen instead as well. Coropuna, El Misti, Mismi, etc, etc.

Arequipa is also my favorite city in South America, so I'm eager to go back. Want to do some rafting too.

Let me know if anyone is interested in going. It will also be my 40th birthday trip!

Hi Scott,
Great way to celebrate your B-Day. I've been living in Arequipa for the past 2 years and I've climbed most of the mountains that you mention. I'd love to tag along if you need a partner. I'm gearing up to try Aconcagua this November so any training climbs will help me out also.
Take care, Humberto
