I am planning a trip via the hogs back in two weeks, does anyone have any recent information on the snow conditions?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Snow conditions change pretty drastically over the course of a few days... absolutely no telling what it'll be like in two weeks, m'fraid.

Conditions on Hood are currently pretty good from what friends are saying. Early July is typically considered very late though.

Yeah, conditions were good. Still cool enough stuff isn't falling on climbers after sunrise. Traversed under the bergschrund and went up Pearly Gates, then descended Old Chute. Old Chute not as steep as last year. Mid July is late.

Went last year on 7/7 and it was very comfortable, but the sun came up and and started melting chunks of ice. I took one the size of a softball to the back of my helmet, which sent me sliding down the glacier. Got up and got hit in the face with a piece the size of a hockey puck that fractured my nose. June and cooler weather is better!

hi There.. yes I was up on the summit on June 9th. Snow was hard, crunchy.. We took the Old Chute. I hear there were a few icy spots on Pearly Gates. It's hard to say what conditions are like now.. they seem to change on a daily basis

i was up there the 14th. pearly gates route was doable if you're comfortable on ice (no real pro needed). also, the direct face route was in and of course, the old chute was a booter the whole way...

Call it the 'Devils Kitchen Headwall'? Sorry for the confusion...

Climbed Wy' East route about 2 weeks ago. Snow is not skiable, too crunchy. The ski slopes are nice and groomed and I would recommend skiing down to lodge from the top of resort where the snow cat drops you off the morning of the climb. The weather can change on a dime. I lucked out, it was great weather.
