Private guide for Ecuador

I'm going to be in Ecuador at the end of January and will be needing a climbing partner to climb a couple of the higher peaks. I'll be doing my acclimatization myself and have most of the needed equipement. That being said, I won't have a partner for those peaks so am looking for a private guide that will simply be a partner for me; the bare basics.
But I can't quite seem to find any names or info. The ones I found charge over 300$ for a single peak wich seems off from what I've read I should be able to find: for example, "Ecuador - Climbing and Hiking Guide" mentions that a good guide should be found at about 100$ (dates from 2008).
Are my expectations way off?
I was thinking of finding someone once I get there to bring me up, but there is an element of incertitude which I don't really like about that solution.
