Hello everyone...
I am writing my diploma thesis at the moment and after that i look forward to spend some time in south america..
I am climbing quite a lot in the swiss and french alps and i would like to do some stuff in the bolivia or peru...
is it easy to find climbing guides over there?
i guess it's a lot cheaper than doing something with an aggency from switzerland...
thanks for your help

It's very easy to find climbing guides in La Paz. There are a number of agencies centered around Sagarnaga & Linares. Some are listed here. More can be found online. Shop around, talk to clients, and make sure that their equipment is in good condition. You can get better prices if you have a partner or two. I used Bolivian Journeys in 2003, but I don't see my guide, Juan, on their current staff list.

I would suggest contacting Jon at Bolivian Mountains for general information on guides for Bolivia. While I didn't use his guides this past summer I did use them for transportation and a cook. Cheers!

Good information provided here : http://www.summitpost.org/area/range/31 ... ivia-.html

You can go through this agency in La Paz as we did : http://www.hikingbolivia.com/
We recommended it to others friend who had a great time with them as well.
