I am going to Arequipa this July and I want climb Chachani at 6,075 meters, I am 17 and the only mountain experience I've had is a one day Mt. Whitney climb, Is experience neccessary for this climb and how should train for it. What are some reccomended guides or companies offering this summit thanks.

I climbed El Misti some years ago using Zarate, one of the leading agencies in town. Check out http://www.zarateadventures.com/
Btw, Arequipa is a beautiful place. Have fun. cheers. André

Depending on when you climb Chachani, it can be easy or harder. There is probably still snow on the route now, so you should have crampons and an ice ax. Without the snow, it isn`t tecnical, and the route is fairly clear. Check out my Chachani trip reports to get more information. I also have some guide info on the Ampato page. Julver is a great guide if you don`t want to go with a group, otherwise either of the Zarate brothers.

I`m guessing there might be a lot of snow right now, because 2 climbers were just killed on Ampato (which is very close) by an avalanch.
