I've found myself once again with the time, funds and desire to do a trip to SAmerica. I will be arriving in Santiago on Dec 24th and leaving on Jan 17th; hoping to do some moderate altitude climbs in the Central Andes (or further away from the capital), but for the time being I don't have the most important for such an attempt: a partner!
Happy to hear from anyone going to Chile at the same time and for the same thing or anyone willing to help with beta.

I have a decent amount of mountaineering and rock climbing experience, (including a couple of altitude climbs in Ecuador last winter) and working knowledge of Spanish (mainly due to fluency in two other Latin languages).

Banos Morales: Hitchcock and Torrecillas
Mendoza: not sure which area

We'll then hit Bariloche in the Lake District on 12/28 - 1/6

We're looking for multi pitch stuff...no ice...5.6 range.

My wife and I will be in Chile from 12/20 to 1/6 and would like to meet you...

We're from West Hollywood, California and have climbed the following: Mount Whitney, The Grand Teton, The Dolomites, Squamish, Thaquits, Joshua Tree, and the Adirondacks.

We're 1st wilderness responders and climb trad at a solid 5.6 level.

You're probable much better a climber than us, but just you wait until you hit your 40...haha.

We want to climb the following areas:

Mendoza - Cajón de Arenales
Banos Morales – Hitchcock
Banos Morales – Las Torrecillas del Manzano

Pucon

Bariloche

Purto Montt – Cochamo

I am a chilean climber living in Santiago. I know the area very well, since l have climbed around for a long time.

I am going climbing to Chalten/Patagonia this summer, but still have to buy some gear, and so I need some money. (all money is welcome these days)

so, for a small price, I can guide you to all the places you want to know. I would just charge for the guiding and driving services per day.

I know you guys are already back... I was around Puerto Montt for 3 weeks at the same time ya'll were down there. The last 5 days I was in chile i was in cochamo. And I don't know who has been to Cochamo but that place is beautiful if anyone goes back. I went to cochamo to scout out some climbing for my boyfirend and other friends. (one of them lives in chile) Anyway, if you go to Cochamo, the valley you want to get to is La Junta and there are 2 camps there. One is Campo Aventura(across the river) and the other is el refugio. I would stay at el refugio because the guy that lives there, Daniel knows a lot about the place and the climbs there. and he's still working on putting up climbs there. He can show you what drawings he has on the climbs in the area. Obviously there are a lot of trad climbs there but he's working on some sport climbs as well.
