Cotopaxi Refuge fees are gonna increase starting in June 1st, 2011. That'll be USD. 42.70 for foreigners and residents instead of the USD. 22,40 and USD 11,20 we used to pay. By paying this fee you'll be entitled to have breaksfast and lunch prepared for the refuge's staff, but nobody will be allowed to enter into the kitchen to prepare meals, or even to boil water. Changes are being put into consideration by the new management (Belisario Chiriboga), few of them are still uncertain.

New 2011 Refuge Prices (Starting June 1st)

 Lunch or Dinner (ea.) USD. 10,37
 Breakfast USD. 5,49

Refuge fees are still the same. Travel agencies made a complain last Thursday to the Ecuadorian Government. According to Ministerio de Turismo del Ecuador, the new refuge´s management is not autorized to increase its fees. So, overnight prices continue as they were before.
