Have you visited La Rinconada in Peru It seems like a crazy town surrounded by beautiful nevados. There is a 6000er above La Rinconada but I don't know its name. I've recently watched a documentary and the people who worked there called it "La Abuela". Have you any pics

Based on online maps:

The big snowfield northeast of town has two named peaks each of about 5800, both called Nevado Ananea (one is "chico", the other "grande").

Further off to the east on the Bolivian border, Chaupi Orco is a 6er, was that the one you had in mind?

Peru has a set of national topos ("Carta Nacional", 1:100,000). I know the South American Explorers Club has copies in their Lima office (and I assume in their Cusco office too), but I only saw it briefly and didn't look at that part of Peru. There is another La Rinconada in Cordillera Blanca, not far from Huascaran but you are right. There is no 6000er near those gold mines, Anena Grande (5852 m) would be the highest mountain there. Have you got any pics

The "Rinconada" that is in the Cordillera Blanca is near Joncapampa and the nearby 6,000ers would be Tocllaraju and Copa - there are probably others, but I don't have a map handy at the moment. It's not really a town though; at most a few houses and some ruins from the Huari period, similar to Joncapampa. I have been to Joncapampa, but not to Rinconada and this one is not the one that got the publicity; the other one is the highest permanent settlement on earth.
