I cant access it at the moment but I would google Alan Arnette's guide page on his website for a rundown of some Western and Nepali operators.

We (two of us) used Sherpa Trekking a few years back. We arranged it from the states, but, they're a Katmandu based agency. They provided a trail guide who hired two porters, got our permits, and we stayed in tea houses the way in from Jiri. Rented/bought a few camping things (tent/stove) for the couple of nights at basecamp. At the end of the trip, we sold the items back in Namche. Easy.

If you don't need a western middle man, then, go with an agency in Katmandu. Most agencies will give you a quote and a style of trip to go with it. You have to decide what type of trip. Ie, fully guided and outfitted, or, you climb yourself and teahouse it, camping, etc.

Can range from very very cheap to very expensive.

Cheers,

Thank you all for your advice! Yes, I will check out Alan's page. He's got loads of info.
To cut costs, indeed picking a Nepalse-based company would be a wise thing to do.
I am about to check out http://www.alpinenepaltrekking.com/
