I would like to know if this pass can reasonnably be crossed by a trekking party. Or if there is an easier pass linking the Biafo-Hispar glacier and the Chogolungma valley.
I have also been told about the Nushik pass, does anybody know something about this one ?

In a quick search of the AAJ and AJ archives, I can't see any reports from the last 20 years. I've been to Pakistan four times, but not that area, so I really don't know. My guess is that almost no one would have crossed the Sokha La in the last 10 years, and that like many such passes in the Karakoram, with smaller glaciers, it may well have become steeper, rockier and more dangerous in that time.

Sosbun Brakk and the other peaks there are very steep, so I would guess that the southern side of the La might also be quite steep. This would be a big problem with a team of porters. Once you were down off the Sokha Glacier it might be OK, because you would soon hit the main valley and the route that parties take on the trek in to Spantik.

Well!! we climbed the sokha la this june 2012 from Bisil Village ( Arandu side) but could not cross it due to biiiiig cracks in the vertical ice walls and some 8 feet cornices .......this route has 100% avalanche danger ,ready to roll anytime ,our 13 porters were caught in one ,there were taken some 300mtrs down with snow, but they swam and saved their lives. The middle portion of the pass is full of crevasses .So it cant become a regular trekking pass.

from top of sokha la,one just cant resist the temptation of getting to the snowlake in just 6 hours,as the other way around takes 6 days. So we stood there on top for 1 hour finding possible routes, but both the routes from left and right were too risky .
