Crazy Week long adventures out of Shanghai

I have 7-12 days for a trip out of and returning to Shanghai. Any one can offer suggestions for a good adventure. I haven't climbed any international high points lately so I consider the highest mountain in Mongolia or Laos but each has its own challenges. Either bitter cold or land mines. Other adventures are also good. Any suggestions?

Western China has many peaks that have seen little to no human activity. Very little regulation/permit issues and the locals are nice. A buddy of mine went over last year and raved about it.....peak after peak in the 6-7k meter range with no permit issues.
