Who else is ready for summer?

Sorry, im just not a winter guy.. even though I live in mild central California, I hate winter! All I do is think about summer in the high Sierra. I am so ready to be back up in Sequoia & Kings Canyon.

I'm ready for spring, at least. I would like to enjoy 80 before 100. Plus, monsoon humidity is too eastern and nothing to get excited over. Since we're all posting from the northern hemisphere, we are all living in winter. Be it a cold Wyoming one, a bleak Minnesota one, or a mild California one. Winter is winter, no matter how extreme it might be. Besides, at 36 degrees north, Visalia is still pretty far away from the sun's most direct rays.

On the other hand, we have over 2 months before the vernal equinox, the west still needs more snow, and as much as I want spring, we still need accept our yearly punishment from Sol for going over to agriculture, breeding ourselves to oblivion, and inventing the modern lifestyle.

NOAA screen shot of Craig, CO (where I live) so far this month. It's usually a few degrees colder at night at the house though.

Yes, winter can be long and brutal, but you have to take advantage of whatever season is at hand. Winter is no excuse to stay home and all seasons are beautiful in their own way.

We'll be climbing a 14,000+ foot mountain this weekend. Should be fun.

Summer? I will just take a warmer winter! My house got over 4 feet right before Christmas and it has settled some but almost nothing has melted in almost a month:

That said, summer sure does sound nice right now. I am hoping to do more in the central Oregon Cascades this year.
