Will pay $100 for you to hump food up Taboose Pass

by MoabPeakBagger » Mon Apr 19, 2010 7:21 pm

I'm looking for someone to resupply myself and my partner while we hike around in the high country for a few weeks this summer. Specifically, I'm looking to have someone carry in a week's worth of food for us, meeting us at the top of Taboose Pass on August 16 or 17.

I know, carrying 21 lbs up Taboose Pass for $100 doesn't seem like the best deal on earth. But for Sierra bums who need nothing more than a good excuse to get into the high country, it's not the worst deal on earth either.

Not a penny less than $125.

OK?

I'm sure you'll find someone to do this. $100 to hike is pretty good. Only downside is that it is a weekday.

It would be better if you could plan the resupply day for a Saturday or Sunday - more people could do it.

Am I reading this right?

You're offering $100 for someone to pack in (only?)21 lbs of food and these people are bitching and complaining that the pass isn't friendly enough and it would be more convenient for them if you picked a weekend.

about sum up this thread so far?

Holy shit people... this is a new low...even for this cess pool of a website.

So fucking glad I don't live in California.

Dude if you really can't find anyone local let me know and I'll drive down from OR and make a sweet road trip out of it. $100 wouldn't even cover my gas but it'd make a dent in it. Maybe I'll actually climb something while I'm there and then I can come back and post my pretty pictures on SP and everyone can vote on them and then... and then...

seriously people...WTF

Fuck dude I'd carry you to the pass for $100. You'd have to carry the food though cause that would be way to heavy for me to handle without your help.

Good luck with your search.

...and you'd think in an economy like this...

I get $380 to cook it for you in the backcountry. Add your $100 to the $380 and we got a deal, oh and air fair to and from Boise. LOL

We once hired a packer to ascend Sawmill Pass at the start of a cross-Sierra hike .We climbed 7500 feet up switchbacks in six hours. Why don't you contact packers on the Eastern Sierra Packers list about dropping a cache on one of their trips with other clients ?

Packer going over Taboose Pass will cost at least tripple the ammount being offered, if not more.

Why not do something to help yourself? Pen and I hiked the JMT last year which included a short jog to another pass to retrieve our previously stashed food. All you need is a good location, one or two extra bear canisters and a bit of extra work to hike up there before and after.

Isn't self sufficiency the name of the game?
